We are seeking a dedicated professional to provide essential and transformative education within a specialist school located in Sussex. This temporary-to-permanent position offers a significant opportunity to be a stable, encouraging mentor for students navigating complex medical needs and behavioural hurdles.

We operate a strict no-sponsorship policy; all applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK.

Working Hours: Monday-Thursday (08:30-15:30) and Friday (08:30-15:00).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed emotional and educational support, leading classroom activities and managing a small support team.
  • Confidently de-escalate high-pressure situations and manage challenging behaviours with empathy and professional boundaries.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to maintain a secure, predictable, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Assess, record, and promote student development and learning milestones.
  • Deliver high-quality inclusive education as a superior practitioner.
  • Apply relational strategies and trauma-informed behavioural support.
  • Maintain an analytical approach to student data and reflective professional practice.
  • Demonstrate dedication to student welfare, safeguarding, and achieving positive outcomes.

You Must Have

  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) with substantial background in SEN settings.
  • 6 months minimum experience in managing severe SEMH and complex behaviours.
  • Emotionally resilient professional with a focused, composed temperament.
  • Outstanding level of maturity and significant emotional resilience.
  • Successful applicants must complete a comprehensive enhanced DBS check.
