About the Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Driver with Caring Duties (Band 3)
This rewarding role combines professional driving responsibilities with providing practical support and care to patients and service users. The successful candidate will safely transport clients to a range of Health & Social Care facilities and community services while ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing throughout their journey.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transporting patients and service users to hospitals, day centres, educational activities, and community appointments
Assisting passengers, including elderly and vulnerable individuals, when boarding and exiting vehicles
Safely securing wheelchair users using approved restraint systems
Operating vehicle tail lifts following appropriate training
Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tyre pressures, and vehicle cleanliness
Completing vehicle log sheets and maintaining accurate mileage and usage records
Supporting portering duties, including the collection and delivery of equipment, furniture, supplies, meals, pharmacy items, and laundry
Providing practical assistance to patients where required, including supporting mobility and assisting during outings
Providing immediate basic assistance to passengers in emergency situations and supporting evacuation procedures when required
Delivering a professional, caring, and customer-focused service at all times
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
A valid Category D Driving Licence with no restrictions
A Driver CPC Card valid for at least two years
Enhanced Access NI clearance prior to appointment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A caring, patient-focused approach with the ability to support vulnerable adults
The ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism
