Driver (Bank) – Circle Decontamination – Stockport
Salary: Up to £12.81 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).
Circle Health Group Decontamination provides sterile equipment and instrumentation for use in surgical and interventional procedures in hospitals across England and Glasgow. The unit operates 24/7 with rotating shifts covering days and nights as required.
Overview
This is a bank role working on an ‘as and when required’ basis. You will supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff during annual leave or absence.
Responsibilities
- Collect contaminated trolleys from hospitals and clinics and deliver them to the CHG decontamination facility.
- Return clean trolleys containing reprocessed scopes and instruments to clinical departments in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
- Perform daily vehicle checks, monitor fuel, oil, tyre pressure, and report any defects immediately.
- Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and in good working order, both inside and out.
- Serve as a key communication link between customers and the decontamination unit, relaying any customer concerns, delivery issues or queries to the appropriate internal contact.
- Maintain professional conduct and build positive working relationships with hospital and clinic staff.
Qualifications
- A full, clean UK driving licence (Category B), valid for operation of vehicles up to and including 3.5 t.
- Proven experience driving vans with tail lifts, ideally in a commercial or healthcare setting.
- Comfortable driving in urban and rural environments, in all weather conditions, and under time pressure.
- Ability to carry out manual handling and lifting duties safely, with appropriate training.
- Good standard of general education, with the ability to complete delivery logs and read route instructions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends or public holidays if required.
- A commitment to maintaining vehicle hygiene and safety standards.
