About the role
We’re looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Yardperson to join our team at Hurkledale Farm, on a full-time and permanent basis. This is a varied, hands‑on role supporting the day‑to‑day running of a busy dairy farm.
Responsibilities
- General yard work to maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Being responsible for the bedding of livestock pens twice per week
- Overseeing and managing all deliveries arriving at the farm, ensuring vehicles are directed to the correct location and goods are unloaded safely and efficiently
- Taking ownership of all delivery documentation, ensuring delivery notes and other associated paperwork are completed, filed and maintained correctly
- Carrying out routine checks and reporting any issues identified across the farm
- Disposing of any yard waste in line with farm procedures and environmental standards
- Operating farm machinery, including telehandler and tractors
- Assisting with other seasonal or ad hod duties as required, including work on some weekends
Qualifications
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Able to manage both practical yard duties and administrative responsibilities
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willing to learn and take on a variety of tasks
- Has a telehandler licence (preferred) – training can be provided
- Interested in farming or has demonstrable on‑farm experience
- Full driving licence and able to commute to our farm in Cummertrees, near Annan
- Able to work ad hoc weekends during busy periods
