Your Role
As part of Capgemini Invent’s Intelligent Industry practice, the Digital Engineering team is looking for an experienced PLM Managing Consultant to support clients on complex transformation programmes. The role focuses on creating synergies between digital and engineering domains to design, build, and operate intelligent products, services, and operations at scale.
Responsibilities
- Work on high‑profile, impactful programmes to define, design, and deliver Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities that improve speed to market, product quality, regulatory compliance, and cost performance.
- Bring strong PLM business consulting skills (process, data, governance, operating model, and change) and a clear perspective on how digital continuity across engineering, manufacturing, and service unlocks measurable value.
- Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to shape the PLM vision, target operating model, roadmap, and translate business outcomes into requirements for people, process, and technology.
- Help clients improve core lifecycle processes such as requirements and configuration management, product data management, BOM and variant management, change control (ECR/ECO), product costing, and compliance.
- Support the selection, implementation, and adoption of leading PLM and adjacent platforms, working with solution architects and delivery teams to ensure designs meet business needs and are fit for scale.
- Familiarise with the use of Agentic AI for digital continuity.
Business Development & Personal Growth
- Business Development – Lead or contribute to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, and client hosting at events.
- Internal Contribution – Campaign development, internal think‑tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
- Learning & Development – Training and certifications to support career development and the skills demand within the company.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a consultancy environment and/or delivering internal business improvement initiatives with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Solid understanding of end‑to‑end product lifecycle processes and how PLM enables digital continuity across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service.
- Experience defining target operating models, governance, roles, and responsibilities for PLM (e.g., data ownership, design authority, change control and configuration governance).
- Practical experience improving core PLM business capabilities such as requirements and configuration management, EBOM/MBOM alignment, variant management, ECR/ECO, and product compliance.
- Strong data and information management skills (product structures, classification, metadata, master data, data quality) and familiarity with integration patterns (PLM–ERP–MES–ALM).
- Experience supporting PLM selection, implementation, and adoption, including requirements definition, fit‑gap analysis, vendor evaluation, UAT support, and benefits/value tracking.
- Working knowledge of one or more PLM platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA, SAP PLM, Aras Innovator, or Autodesk Fusion Manage.
- Understanding of adjacent domains and methods such as MBSE, ALM, digital thread/digital twin, systems engineering, and model‑based product definition.
- Proven ability to succeed in a matrixed organization and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions.
- Experience contributing to propositions, thought leadership, and business development activities (e.g., proposals, RFPs, client pitches, and asset development).
