Role Overview

Grade UE08: £50,253 – £61,759 per annum

Full-time: 35 hours per week. Fixed-term: available from July 2026 for 12 months.

Senior role leading an international research team within the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Global Surgery (the GSU) to deliver cluster‑randomised clinical trials in low resource settings, focusing on maternal and neonatal health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an international team of research staff across 30 hospitals in four countries.
  • Drive research projects forward within budget and timelines, ensuring compliance with governance processes.
  • Provide strategic and operational management for the delivery of large‑scale cluster‑randomised trials using wearable sensors and data‑driven research approaches.
  • Act as an excellent communicator, motivating others, and demonstrating leadership when faced with challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant area.
  • Substantial experience delivering complex clinical trials in maternal health, including governance compliance.
  • Extensive experience in low‑resource settings.
  • Experience monitoring, analysing and disseminating complex information.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary, international and industry teams.
