About The Role
Grade Level (for internal use): 09
The Price Reporter (Associate Editor) for EMEA Freight Markets is responsible for day‑to‑day reporting on the shipping and freight markets in the Western hemisphere. The role covers the entire cycle of market reporting, from collecting & publishing primary market information, running assessment processes, assessing the value of markets, reporting market‑related news, writing commentary and analysis, contributing to methodology development, and engaging with market sources.
Accountabilities
- Assess freight markets: survey market participants throughout the day, publish price updates, understand S&P Global Energy’s methodology and keep it current, and perform full assessments without the aid of a spreadsheet.
- Write high‑quality market commentaries: produce commentaries that help readers understand market movements and the basis for assessments.
- Report news about the markets: cover supply and demand developments, government data, regulatory changes, trader movements, price trend analysis, and other relevant topics.
- Engage with the industry: find and nurture new market sources, maintain relationships with existing sources, and keep source lists up to date.
Required Skills
- Reporting or analytical experience
- Strong mathematical and writing skills
- Strong time‑management and communication skills
- Ability to perform well both individually and as part of the team
Preferred Skills
- Experience in shipping markets
- European languages
