Withernsea Primary School is looking to appoint two dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic Senior Achievement Support Assistants to work within our specialist provisions and contribute to the continued development of our school. These are two full‑time, permanent positions, working 31 hours per week.

We are committed to delivering a broad and engaging curriculum that supports both academic achievement and personal development for children aged 3–11. Our specialist provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Communication and Interaction needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver learning opportunities, preparing resources and supporting pupils to access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities and intervention programmes to individuals and small groups under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Gather, organise and prepare high‑quality resources to support teaching and learning within the provision.
- Adapt activities, teaching approaches and resources to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience and flexibility when supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and support their social, emotional and personal development.
- Use positive behaviour strategies, restorative approaches and de‑escalation techniques.
- Assess and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reviews and target setting.
- Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and liaise positively with parents and external agencies.
- Be organised, dependable and reflective in practice, maintaining high expectations for both oneself and the pupils supported.
Qualifications and Experience
- Genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and helping them enjoy learning.
- Experience of or strong understanding of supporting children with SEND, including Communication and Interaction and SEMH needs.
- Committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
- Experience with children with SEND, including Communication and Interaction, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and/or SEMH needs would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational, communication and reflective skills.
- High expectations for both oneself and pupils.
