Truck Driver

Location/Shift: Harvard – 4600 Harvard Ave., Newburgh Hts., OH 44105

Tuesday – Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Examples of Duties

Under supervision, drives a truck and assists support personnel of the truck in the performance of work for which the truck is operated. Keeps daily written records as required by division; must have knowledge of the streets of Cleveland; operates all motorized equipment and/or vehicles assigned to the Division of Park Maintenance and Properties; assists, to the extent possible, in other ground maintenance functions; operates the truck mechanism for loading, unloading and compacting; drives a dump truck, manual or automatic shift, with hydraulic lifts and compressing operations; responsible for the normal preventive maintenance of his/her assigned vehicle such as, but not limited to, checking oil, checking tires, checking water, checking fuel and fuel lights. Performs other related duties as assigned. Follows all operations and safety policies and safe work practices. Attends and participates in operations and safety training classes and demonstrates competence (demonstration of competence may be determined by exam). Wears and properly utilizes safety equipment in accordance with Divisional policy at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required. A valid State of Ohio Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License is required. Must have a good driving record. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Must be a City of Cleveland Seasonal Snow Removal Vehicle Operator. Air brake endorsement is required. Trailer endorsement is required. Four years of full time paid experience operating a Waste collection vehicle or straight truck is required.

Supplemental Information

Requirements: A High School Diploma or GED is required. Four years of full-time paid experience operating as a CDL A driver required. CDL A (only) drivers with training and the proper endorsements to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the towed vehicle is heavier than 10,000 pounds i.e., Tractor‑Trailers, Truck & Trailer combinations and Tank Vehicles. Air brake endorsement is required. Must have a good driving record. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather.
