Technical Services Manager

Role Summary

We are recruiting a Technical Services Manager – Modular Buildings to act as Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act for modular construction projects (excluding higher‑risk buildings) across the UK. The role will coordinate design activities to manage and reduce building safety risks, ensure statutory compliance for off‑site manufacture and on‑site installation, and support design and estimating teams on new and retrofitted projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design coordination for modular building projects ranging from £500,000 to £15,000,000.
• Ensure Building Regulation compliant solutions and Principal Designer accountability under the Building Safety Act.
• Collaborate with design and estimating teams on initial designs, pricing, and commercial approvals.
• Adapt existing designs and further develop them through client discussion and commercial approvals.
• Deliver projects smoothly, on time, to specification, and maintain overall quality.

Qualifications

• Proven technical expertise in Modular Buildings, Timber Frame Buildings, Steel Framed Buildings, Bathroom Pods or Sips Panels, or Main Contracting / Traditional Build background.
• Experience working in the Education, Commercial or Healthcare sectors is beneficial.
• Strong track record on the technical side of modular construction or similar.
• Knowledge and experience of Building Regulation compliant design solutions.
• Self‑sufficient, hard‑working, driven, enthusiastic, positive and flexible, with gravitas and a desire to succeed.
