Fitness Instructor – Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre

GLL is looking for a Fitness Instructor based at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre. As a real people‑person you will inspire clients to train independently, build trust and confidence, and contribute to their fitness aspirations.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and check information related to individual clients.
  • Analyze client information to identify and agree on smart short, medium and long‑term goals.
  • Plan, instruct, and evaluate safe and appropriate exercise sessions.
  • Provide 1‑2‑1 or group inductions and general exercise programmes, including introductions to new equipment where appropriate.
  • Teach classes or small group training.
  • Select relevant exercises and design appropriate programmes that address safety at all times.
  • Produce suitable programme cards for a range of clients/members.
  • Suggest relevant exercise adaptations to allow for individual client difference or needs.
  • Use logical and progressive teaching methodologies to introduce a range of exercises in relation to client goals.
  • Select and/or correctly demonstrate a variety of training methods to be used by clients/members.
  • Provide clients/members with general advice on how to progress their individual programmes.
  • Provide assistance to clients/members at all times in order to correct unsafe technique where required.
  • Interact and motivate clients/members using appropriate strategies to promote retention and adherence to exercise.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor Qualification.
  • Group Cycle CPD or Qualification.
  • Experience of class delivery.
  • A good positive image and the ability to provide a welcoming, helpful, and professional service to keep customers returning week after week.
  • Proactively market and promote the Group Cycle classes.
  • Ability to engage with all customers to actively encourage participation in all services and activities.

This is a flexible position. Working from home is not possible in this role. Hours of work will be negotiated with you in line with the needs of the service.
