Working closely with IT, CFD, Aerodynamics and Engineering teams, you’ll be responsible for delivering highly available, scalable and high‑performing Linux‑based HPC platforms that power business‑critical simulation workloads, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). You’ll also lead a talented team of engineers, drive strategic infrastructure projects, and play a key role in the evolution of our HPC capability, including major datacentre initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, operation and continual improvement of the team’s Linux‑based High‑Performance Computing infrastructure.
  • Oversee HPC clusters supporting CFD and Structures/FEA simulation workloads, ensuring maximum performance, scalability and reliability.
  • Lead the migration and ongoing development of HPC infrastructure within a new datacentre environment, working alongside technology partners.
  • Optimise compute performance through hardware tuning, scheduling, storage, networking and parallel computing technologies.
  • Drive platform observability, resilience and operational excellence using modern monitoring and automation tools.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and support simulation software delivery.
  • Lead the planning, budgeting and successful delivery of HPC infrastructure projects within demanding timescales.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high‑performing infrastructure team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with engineering stakeholders to ensure HPC capabilities continue to meet the evolving demands of the race programme.
  • Champion best practice across infrastructure operations while maintaining the highest standards of reliability, security and service delivery.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Extensive experience designing, administering and troubleshooting enterprise Linux environments, particularly Rocky Linux or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of High‑Performance Computing architectures, including CPU/GPU computing, MPI, InfiniBand, Omni‑Path and parallel computing technologies.
  • Experience with HPC scheduling platforms, particularly Slurm, alongside parallel file systems such as BeeGFS and enterprise storage technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code and observability tools, including Ansible, Terraform, Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage technical teams, deliver complex infrastructure projects and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working within Formula One or another high‑performance motorsport or engineering environment, with an understanding of the technical demands and regulatory landscape.
  • A proactive, resilient and results‑driven approach, with excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
