Job Description:

We’re recruiting for a Neighbourhood Officer to join our team for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, full‑time (37 hours a week). This role is contractually based in our Portsmouth office and is primarily remote, working within the West Sussex area. The position supports the local community as the main contact for customers in their patch, addressing tenancy conditions, health and safety, rent/service charges, repairs and other matters.

Responsibilities

As a neighbourhood officer you will be the primary point of contact for customers in your patch, providing advice and support on tenancy matters, health and safety, rent/payment issues, repairs and more. You help create safe, attractive and sustainable communities, ensuring customers receive quality and value‑for‑money services. You identify when referrals to the tenancy support team are required and coordinate these support arrangements.

All neighbourhood officers may be required to cover or support other areas occasionally.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Customer‑focused attitude with ability to handle challenging customers and neighbour disputes
  • Resilience, assertiveness and the ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrable experience working face‑to‑face with the general public or in a public services environment, with a strong record in service delivery
  • Understanding of the social housing sector; experience in housing management or law is an advantage but not essential
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use (required)
  • Business mileage will be paid
  • Subject to a satisfactory DBS check

Travel

Travel around the West Sussex area is required; a full UK driving licence and vehicle access are mandatory.
