About the Role
CTPNW is recruiting a Senior HR Officer to join its established HR team. The role involves shaping the North West workforce priorities in line with CTP strategy and supporting the HR Senior Partner in delivering a professional regional HR service.
Responsibilities
- Have line‑management responsibility for staff within the CTPNW HR/Recruitment Unit.
- Liaise with Regional HR colleagues, advocating recruitment practices and advising management on recruitment principles in line with Home Force policies.
- Act as the point of contact for the home forces of seconded police officers and staff, managing HR issues arising from secondments and administering agreements.
- Attend and provide advice at the CTPNW Resource Management Group (RMG) meetings, executing actions and reporting on decisions.
- Manage a case load, providing support and guidance to local managers on employee‑relations matters.
- Assist in delivering local change programmes across the CT regional forces.
- Ensure compliance with employment law, policies, procedures and best practice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional and local partners and stakeholders.
- Support a culture of inclusion, wellbeing and professional development across CTPNW.
Qualifications & Experience
- Level 5 CIPD and Associate Member accreditation.
- Experience in employee relations, organisational change, workforce planning, and leading consultation with trade unions.
- Sound understanding of HR policies and procedures.
- Ability to influence, challenge and advise senior leaders with confidence and credibility.
- Experience working autonomously and delivering.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop strategy and policy positions.
- High level of integrity, resilience and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Adaptability and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
Eligibility & Conditions
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have at least five years residency in the United Kingdom.
- Must be a UK national (dual nationals with a British element may be considered).
- Must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) – Enhanced (SC(e)) clearance prior to appointment; Developed Vetting (DV) may be required in post.
- Must be able to work in Manchester, with occasional regional travel; role is hybrid (office and remote).
