This Hybrid role located in Reading seeks an experienced and innovative Senior Developer to design, build, and improve digital services that support residents, businesses and communities across Reading. Working within the Digital, Technology and Change team, you’ll transform business requirements into high-quality digital products and services, with a focus on the Council’s Case and Customer Management (CCM) project using the Arcus Global platform built on Salesforce.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of digital products and services.
- Develop and maintain customer‑facing applications and integrations across multiple platforms.
- Work with CRM technologies, including the Customer Contact Management platform, to deliver integrated digital services.
- Translate user research and business requirements into effective digital solutions.
- Design and develop APIs, integrations, and automated workflows.
- Support continuous improvement through agile delivery, iterative development and continuous release practices.
- Produce detailed technical designs, specifications and documentation.
- Ensure solutions comply with security, accessibility and development standards.
- Lead testing activities, including unit, integration and functional testing.
- Mentor colleagues, promote good development practices and help establish technical standards.
- Explore and implement automation and robotic process solutions to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal services and external suppliers to improve systems and digital capabilities.
Qualifications
- Experience developing and delivering digital products in agile teams.
- Strong Python development skills, with experience using frameworks such as Flask, Django or FastAPI.
- Experience working with APIs, integrations, CRM platforms and cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and modern web development practices.
- Experience using source control and continuous delivery tools.
- Ability to translate business and user needs into effective digital solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud.
- Previous experience in Arcus Global products or Salesforce is desirable.
