Shop Manager – Floating cover

2 Lavant Street, Petersfield, GU33 3EW

Based at Petersfield covering Liss and Portsmouth shops

37.5 hours per week, including weekends on rota (6‑month fixed‑term contract)

Salary: £25,302.39 per annum plus reward and benefit scheme

About you

Are you an experienced proactive shop manager with commercial awareness, people leadership and the ability to plan and prioritise?

Responsibilities

  • Drive business, push sales and achieve targets as Shop Manager.
  • Lead a team of volunteers to deliver great customer service to donors and customers.
  • Work with the local community to generate sufficient donated stock to drive sales.
  • Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance.
  • Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring health and safety is a priority.
  • Manage effective stock processes to keep the shop well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in‑store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
  • Operate the Epos system for stock processes.

Minimum Essential Criteria

  • Customer service experience.
  • People management experience (reviews/1:1/volunteer recruitment/team meetings).
  • Experience with KPIs and targets.
  • Strong IT skills (email, instant messaging, video calls).
  • Organisational skills.
  • Lone working experience.

Desirable Criteria

  • High street or charity retail managerial experience.
  • Health and safety knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent.
  • Background in retail, leisure or hospitality.
  • Experience with merchandising and stock rotation.
