Overview
Uplands Academy is seeking a Senior Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). This is a permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week plus 30 minutes unpaid break per day, Monday to Friday; term time only).
The role supports pupils to re-engage with education, improve emotional wellbeing, and achieve their full potential, working closely with teaching staff, families and external professionals to provide targeted support.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH needs and EBSA to re-engage them with education and improve emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, families and external professionals to plan and deliver effective support.
- Support pupils to build confidence, develop positive relationships and progress towards independence.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to ongoing assessments and evidence of impact.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment and participate in safeguarding and welfare procedures as required.
Person Specification / Qualifications
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or vulnerable learners is desirable.
- Compassionate, resilient and dedicated professional with a passion for helping young people.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
