As an Operational Risk Analyst you will act as a trusted advisor to the front office and support functions, ensuring that operational risks are effectively identified, assessed, monitored, and mitigated. You will play a key role in strengthening the risk framework and promoting a strong risk culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent oversight and challenge to the First Line of Defence on operational risk matters
- Lead and support Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) across capital markets activities
- Analyse and report on operational risk events, incidents, and near misses
- Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite metrics
- Review and challenge new product approvals, process changes, and strategic initiatives
- Support scenario analysis and stress testing exercises
- Prepare high-quality risk reporting for senior management and risk committees
- Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and internal risk frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement in risk management practices and controls
Requirements
- Proven experience in operational risk within banking
- Strong understanding of Second Line of Defence principles and governance frameworks
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations (e.g. Basel frameworks, UK/EU regulations)
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and risk scenarios
- Strong stakeholder management skills with confidence to challenge senior colleagues constructively
- Experience with RCSA, KRI development, and incident management
- Professional certifications (e.g. FRM, PRM, ICA) are advantageous
