Job Description:

We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher who will provide strategic leadership across the school, with a core responsibility for Wellbeing, Support and ALN provision. The post‑holder will ensure early identification of learner needs, oversee high‑quality support and IDP processes, and work closely with families, staff and external agencies to secure strong outcomes for all pupils. They will support the Headteacher in shaping the school’s vision, driving improvements in teaching and learning, and fostering a culture of high expectations, equity and well‑being. The role includes leading on vulnerable learner groups monitoring progress through data and classroom practice, and ensuring statutory compliance. The Assistant Headteacher will contribute to whole‑school self‑evaluation, staff development, performance management and the effective deployment of resources. They will maintain strong communication with governors, model excellent teaching, promote positive behaviour and inclusion, and work with the leadership team to secure high standards and continuous school improvement.

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
