Safehaventalent is a charity dedicated to the social, environmental and economic wellbeing of the North Kensington community. The role focuses on managing, developing and expanding Nursery and Crèche services to provide affordable, culturally appropriate early childhood care.
Role Summary
The purpose of this role is to manage, develop and expand our Nursery and Crèche services working collaboratively with the immediate team, other relevant staff, commissioners, partners, and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include overall management of staff, ensuring high standards of childcare, liaising with statutory regulators, and driving expansion plans.
- Manage the staff team to deliver the Nursery and Crèche services.
- Liaison with all relevant members of staff to maximise opportunities for employment, development, and engagement.
- Develop, monitor and review activities to ensure high standards of childcare and learning.
- Quality assure and develop services to maintain and improve the Ofsted position.
- Apply Safehaventalent policies and develop bespoke policies as required.
- Attend budget planning with the finance team to ensure full understanding and effective budget management.
- Keep appropriate records of all children and account for their social and individual developmental needs.
- Monitor and report against delivery objectives, providing observation and feedback to staff.
- Work with Marketing and Communications to ensure good collateral for media, recruitment, branding and engagement.
- Provide data as required for internal and external reporting.
- Represent Safehaventalent at events and activities in the field.
- Contribute to wider organisational activities, encouraging team engagement.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Relevant qualification in childcare at a minimum Level 4.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing a Nursery, including monitoring, reporting and quality improvement.
- Experience as the main contact for Ofsted.
- Track record of developing successful partnerships and achieving joint success.
- Strong experience of planning, scheduling, attention to detail and problem solving.
- Experience working with a team, including managing high‑pressure situations.
- Experience managing staff and supporting their development.
- Experience managing resources and budgets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience of writing reports.
- Knowledge of safeguarding.
- Good level of IT proficiency.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads and work accurately to deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, seizing new opportunities.
- Experience delivering a service with understanding of different cultures.
- Demonstrable commitment to equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion.
- Understanding of the issues facing North Kensington and track record of working with beneficiary communities.
- Experience with volunteers or community engagement.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekend hours.
