Overview

St Thomas Cantilupe School are looking to appoint a well-qualified Caretaker to join our team in the centre of Hereford. The role is Monday to Friday for 10 hours a week term time only and the hours of work will be 6.00am – 8.00am. We can be flexible with those times but they will be first thing in the morning. Additional hours may be required on an ad‑hoc basis at mutually convenient times.

Responsibilities

  • To be a key holder and to open the building each school day, setting and un‑setting the alarm
  • Daily boundary checks and visual check of the grounds and buildings
  • Ensure the site is clean and remains secure
  • Undertake general caretaking and maintenance duties e.g. changing lightbulbs, carrying out temporary repairs
  • Liaising with contractors and our Property Services Team
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and best practice requirements e.g. legionella testing, emergency lighting tests, weekly fire alarm tests. Completing paperwork, as directed, as a member of a Multi‑Academy Trust
  • To be proactive in maintaining the school to a high standard so it is welcoming to pupils, parents, visitors and staff
  • PAT testing
