About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join a current Amentum team delivering a construction project on the nuclear new build site at Hinkley Point C. This is a site‑based role: the successful applicant will be required to attend site 4 days a week minimum.

The successful applicant will develop and maintain appropriate communications and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance to project teams in the development of scopes of work and the creation of requisitions and supporting their understanding of the overall Procurement lifecycle, process and tools. The successful applicant will be a key driver in ensuring that Supply Chain activities align with project schedules and budgets, and will coordinate with the functional Project teams, in particular the Construction, Quality and Care and Maintenance teams.

The role involves managing the following key responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement of all site orders through the implemented Demand Form Process, liaising with site and management team to ensure stock does not fall below minimum levels.
  • Expedite deliveries, liaising with suppliers and logistics providers, for delivery dates. Maintain records of procurement activities.
  • Take part in the initiation and subsequently perform local business outreach activities aimed at increasing local business participation.
  • Receipt goods via online software as and when they are delivered to site, liaising with both Materiel Controllers and Quantity Surveyor to ensure all goods are recorded as per process.
  • Administer Purchase Orders /Procurement Agreements and change orders, evaluating any issues encountered throughout the process and applying appropriate remedies to resolve.
  • Review supplier payment schedules and invoices in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the purchase order and ensure compliance with prompt payment commitments.
  • Track progress of all supply chain/procurement activities including expediting delivery of goods and services.
  • Other responsibilities as required by the Project.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Working knowledge of procurement concepts, principles and practices and will understand the role of procurement and supply chain management having demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Negotiating, influencing and communication skills with good attention to detail and able effectively communicate with key stakeholders including client, operations / project / construction teams and external suppliers.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to effectively operate business and procurement systems.
  • Construction background highly preferred but not essential.
  • UK driving licence and ability to obtain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance.
