Job Description:

Our Controls Centre of Excellence, located in Nailsea, near Bristol, has identified a need for an Electronics/Software Engineering Apprentice. The role offers a 4‑year apprenticeship under the Embedded Electronic Systems design and development engineer program, with day‑release college study at UCW in Weston-super-Mare and the University of West of England (UWE).

Responsibilities

  • Design functional electronic systems and circuits from component level.
  • Write and document structured code to comply with industry norms.
  • Develop a test plan for a product that you have developed.
  • Develop a basic project plan including resource planning, time planning, and contingency use.
  • Demonstrate comprehension of structured software design fundamentals.

Become competent in Business IT/M systems, including Engineering Documentation packages, Quality and HSE systems.

Qualifications

  • Academic qualifications of 96 UCAS points or above (for example, 3 A‑Levels at grade C or above including Maths and a STEM subject, or an Extended BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering with Distinction).
  • At least five GCSEs at Grade 5 and above including Mathematics, English and Double Science (or equivalent qualification).

Additional Information

The internal title for this role is Technical School Internship – Entry. The apprenticeship supports you in gaining a higher education qualification in electrical/electronic/software engineering and delivers a design project while earning.
