Job Description:

We have an opportunity for a Scheme Manager to join our Homeownership team, which sits within Sanctuary Independent Living Services (SILS). This role forms part of a wider team supporting schemes across Essex, London and Kent. Reporting to the Homeownership Officer, you will assist in the management of two private retirement housing schemes for residents aged 55 and over. The position offers a varied and rewarding workload, requiring strong administrative skills, excellent communication, and a customer‑focused approach when engaging with residents.

The scheme manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of the communal areas of the buildings, including managing contractors for cleaning, gardening, and maintenance. You will also be responsible for reporting and monitoring repairs, hosting coffee meetings, joining resident meetings, and general encouragement of resident activities. The role will provide welfare support in the form of daily calls to the more vulnerable residents.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage residents to maintain their well‑being and independence through the effective delivery of high quality, safe and value for money housing support services
  • Meet all legislative and regulatory requirements for housing services activities to ensure clean and safe homes
  • Promote resident involvement and provide information on local community services and agencies to promote well‑being and independence
  • Effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders, service providers including contractors and residents, identifying any shortfalls in service delivery and ensuring they are dealt with appropriately
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality customer service by resolving problems and complaints or setting into motion the means of resolution
  • Provide administrative support for the delivery of high quality and value for money housing services, including maintaining accurate records and supporting resales
  • Assist the Housing Officer with the setting and monitoring of budgets and accounts and support effective income recovery

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Numeracy and literacy to the equivalent of GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Some experience of working with older people in a support capacity and understanding their individual needs or similar
  • Working knowledge of the key needs and services available to residents
  • Some experience of problem solving and implementing effective solutions, including referrals as needed
  • Working knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to interpret and maintain computerised information and documentation
  • Good interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Travel is a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving licence is essential
  • We work closely with the Home Office in order to prevent illegal working. A basic Disclosure and Barring Service check will be necessary in the event of a successful application which we will pay for.

Role salary is £25,887 (rising to £26,687 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance). The full time equivalent salary for this role is £27,736 based on 37.5 hours per week rising to £29,413 after 12 months service and subject to satisfactory performance.
