This role is critical to supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), sustaining production, and driving continuous improvement across optical test processes and equipment.You will work closely with Optical Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure optical products meet demanding performance, quality, and regulatory requirements in a high‑reliability engineering environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, execute, and maintain optical test methods and procedures to verify product performance against specificationProvide hands‑on test support to NPI and production, including fault finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actionOwn and improve optical test equipment, including calibration, reliability, and obsolescence managementDrive continuous improvement initiatives such as test time reduction, process robustness, and yield improvementInterface proactively with Operations to identify and mitigate test‑related risksGenerate and maintain technical documentation, test reports, and compliance evidenceEnsure all test activities comply with company procedures, Health & Safety, and regulatory requirementsSupport and mentor junior engineers and technicians within the test functionEssential Skills & ExperienceDegree (or equivalent experience) in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related disciplinePractical experience in optical testing or metrology within a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of optical principles (imaging, alignment, aberrations, tolerancing)Experience troubleshooting complex optical systems and test setupsAbility to work effectively across multi‑disciplinary engineering and operations teamsClear technical communication and structured problem‑solving skillsDesirableExperience supporting NPI programmes and stage‑gate reviewsFamiliarity with optical test equipment (e.g. interferometry, MTF, alignment benches)Experience in regulated or high‑reliability sectors (Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Automotive)Knowledge of test automation or data analysis toolsWhat We OfferOpportunity to work on advanced optical systems in a high‑technology environmentA collaborative engineering culture with strong links between design, manufacture, and testProfessional development and skills growth within a specialist engineering disciplineCompetitive salary and benefits package#LI-ON1Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
