Role Overview

Supporting Wales’ growth through sustainable transport planning, SLR is looking for an experienced transport planning professional to join our established Transport Planning team in Cardiff. The role focuses on transport planning and appraisal work, alongside project delivery, client relationship management, project management and business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Vision‑Led Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans
  • Use of professional judgement to develop effective and practical transport solutions
  • Client relationship management and support with fee proposals
  • Planning and undertaking stakeholder and client engagement activities
  • Supporting project financial performance alongside Project Directors
  • Continual development of technical knowledge in line with policy and regulatory changes
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members
  • Leading business development activities, building new client relationships and securing new project opportunities (Principal‑level only)

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering UK transport planning projects within a consultancy or similar environment
  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution (or working towards this)
  • Strong technical reporting and problem‑solving skills
  • Knowledge of UK transport planning policy and appraisal techniques
  • Experience using transport modelling software such as JUNCTIONS and LINSIG
  • A proven track record of winning work and developing new client relationships (Principal‑level only)
