Role: Planning Manager – Energy Infrastructure

Location: Remote (Regular travel to various site and office locations across the UK)

Employment: Full-time permanent

Industry: Renewable Energy/ EPC Construction

Turner Lovell are recruiting for an experienced Planning Manager to support a global client delivering major energy infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a remote role with regular travel involved across several office and site locations, but with a very reasonable amount of travel required.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead planning activities across a diverse portfolio of critical infrastructure projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Data Centres, Grid Connections, HV and EHV Transmission & Distribution schemes, and wider energy transition projects. You’ll play a key role in ensuring successful programme delivery while managing and developing a high-performing planning function across multiple live projects.

We are interested in speaking with Planning Managers, Lead Planners or Senior Planning professionals who have stepped into team leadership and can show a strong track record of delivering across complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing a team of planners across multiple live projects
  • Driving consistency in planning, programme control and reporting
  • Supporting project teams with programme reviews, risks, milestones and change
  • Challenging project data and making sure reports are accurate and useful
  • Working closely with project managers, commercial teams, clients and supply chain partners
  • Attending senior project and client meetings as the planning lead
  • Improving planning processes, tools and ways of working across the business

Requirements

  • Strong planning and scheduling experience across live construction or infrastructure projects
  • Experience leading, managing or mentoring planners
  • Confidence dealing with project teams, clients and senior stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of programme risk, change control and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach
  • Willingness to travel regularly across UK offices and project sites
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate complex programme data into meaningful business insights.
