Key Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of the Relief Security Officer is to provide flexible and reliable security coverage across various locations as needed. The role involves ensuring the safety and security of premises, staff, and visitors by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This includes monitoring and controlling access, conducting regular patrols, and responding promptly to security incidents or emergencies.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist visitors, ensuring they feel welcome and are directed to the appropriate area.
  • Be receptive to clients’ concerns and complaints and take a personal interest in resolving any issues.
  • Always provide a high level of customer service, addressing inquiries and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Work to the assignment instructions ensuring that all activity is accurately recorded on the correct documents, in line with both the client’s and the company’s quality procedures.
  • Comply with and report on all Health and Safety issues in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both internally and externally, to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and review footage as necessary.
  • Make required check calls and booking on/off calls.
  • Control access to the premises, ensuring only authorised personnel are allowed entry.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms and incidents, ensuring the situation is handled appropriately and reported accurately.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities.
  • Collaborate with emergency services when required.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • Ensure that equipment issued to the contract is maintained and used in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements at all times and that protective cases are used on all relevant equipment.
  • Be correctly dressed in full uniform, as required by the client, and communicate any shortfall in issuance to the appropriate line manager.
  • Set and maintain the highest personal and professional standards as an employee of Kings Security and adopt a total quality approach to every aspect of your work.

Essential Requirements

  • SIA Licence or valid SIA training certificates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility, willingness to work various shift patterns in line with operational needs
  • Ability to stay calm and composed under pressure, especially during emergencies
  • Must drive and have own vehicle

Desirable Requirements

  • Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous, though we are open to candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic understanding of security protocols and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the use of surveillance systems and other security equipment.
  • Previous experience in the security industry.
