About the Role
The Practice Supervisor role is an integral component for the SEND Team ensuring the needs to the locality area are met. The successful candidate will provide supervision of the caseworkers, ensuring standards are met and the team(s) runs efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will also contribute to the direction and development of the SEND strategy and planning, taking into account local and national policy and initiatives.
About the Team
Candidates will need to have extensive experience of working within the statutory framework of Special Educational Needs and Disability, across partners, with families and children/young people. Evidence of skills required to support a team of caseworkers and assistant caseworkers is essential. The team provide the production, oversight and administration of Education Health and Care assessments and Education Health and Care Plans. The team also ensures all statutory duties are met and that families and children/young people receive a high standard of service to ensure all partners are delivering the legally required support to meet the young persons’ specials educational needs.
Responsibility
- Oversee and supervise the new Post16 SEND team and the Locality SEND Caseworkers.
- Ensure standards and delivery of statutory assessment and review of young people (ages and eligibility as specified).
- Ensure the team runs efficiently and effectively.
- Contribute to the direction and development of the SEND strategy and planning.
About You
- Hold a full professional qualification with extensive relevant post qualification experience, or the knowledge and skills acquired from a degree at graduate/postgraduate level, teaching qualification or equivalent, and extensive post-qualification experience in a relevant children’s service environment.
- Have significant experience of working with families, children and young people with complex SEN needs.
- Demonstrate a high level of organisational skills and the ability to prioritise high demand, and excellent communication skills within the context of statutory SEND provision.
- Solution focused, passionate about improving services for children and young people with SEND, have excellent communication skills and a passion for strong customer service.
- Fluency Duty – ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
