Role Overview

Business Development Director – London or Manchester office. Drive the Business Development, Sales and Marketing strategy for the Company Secretarial Services division, working closely with the Head of CSS and the Head of Business Development.

Main Responsibilities

Overall Responsibility

  • Deliver incremental revenue in line with the UK CSS annual budget targets.
  • Devise and deliver the CSS Business Development Plan, targeting cross‑sell of product lines from other business units.
  • Work with the Business Development team to generate marketing activity, build brand recognition and ensure services align with the group’s brand.

Business Development

  • Cultivate and grow relationships with target clients to deliver new business revenues and improve operating profit margin.
  • Develop pipeline and prospect management, maintaining high momentum in partnership with team members.
  • Coordinate bid management and deliver compelling proposals.
  • Analyse competitor activity, market trends and communicate the evolving value proposition to stakeholders.
  • Encourage cross‑selling and introductions across group business units.
  • Seek and develop mutually beneficial referral partnerships.

Marketing Communications

  • Devise and implement the Sales, Marketing and Communications strategy.
  • Own the UKCSS BDM Plan, integrating activities such as digital collateral, brochures, literature and bulletin production, and print management.
  • Drive the CSS business social media presence.

Public Relations

  • Identify publicity/value of LawDeb cases, client wins and new services.
  • Monitor broadcast, print and social media coverage of LawDeb and competitors.
  • Conduct market research, including competitor analysis, demographics and economic reviews.
  • Analyse market information to identify competitor tactics, trends, opportunities and challenges.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Degree level education with evidence of further study.
  • Extensive experience in professional services business development, sales and communications with reputable brands.
  • Extensive, demonstrable professional network.
  • Skill in building relationships with colleagues, clients, partners, press and other contacts.
  • Experience executing informed BDM budget to optimise ROI and maximise effectiveness.
  • Proven delivery record demonstrating creative and analytical skills.
  • Project management ability using a collaborative professional approach and operating well under pressure.
