Job Overview
Domestic Cleaner – Clean Wards, Clinics, Offices & External Areas across the NHS Trust. The role involves maintaining high standards of hygiene and adhering to infection control policies in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean wards, clinics, offices and external areas to the National Standards of Cleaning 2025.
- Execute general cleaning duties, floor maintenance, enhanced and deep cleaning of patient areas.
- Use cleaning and floor polishing machinery safely and effectively.
- Follow colour‑coding systems and other infection control procedures.
- Work independently and as part of a domestic services team.
- Communicate clearly in written and verbal form and follow instructions.
- Carry out tasks that involve lifting, carrying, mopping and damp dusting.
Qualifications
- Previous domestic or healthcare cleaning experience.
- Experience using cleaning machinery and floor polishing equipment.
- GCSE or equivalent; basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Understanding of the importance of cleanliness in a patient/healthcare setting.
- Health and safety awareness and the ability to work on own initiative.
- Physical fitness to carry out manual duties.
- Clearance of DBS/Disclosure and Barring Service checks.
Working Conditions
Physical work requiring lifting and carrying, access to vulnerable people, and a requirement to be an employee of one of the five LAASP organisations. Overtime is regularly available. Flexible working arrangements (e.g., reduced hours, compressed hours, fixed shifts) may be considered from day one.
