Location: BlackpoolPosition: Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support)Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner if available)Contract: Full-Time, Term Time OnlySalary: Competitive, dependent on experience

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a young learner, helping them to access the curriculum, develop positive relationships, and regulate their emotions within the school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to promote the child’s progress and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with SEMH needs.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Build a trusting and nurturing relationship with the child.
  • Assist the pupil in accessing learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions and support plans.
  • Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and achievements.
  • Promote inclusion, independence, and confidence throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH, behavioural needs, autism, or additional needs.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and respond positively to challenges.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting (desirable).
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
