About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing payments business building the next generation of capabilities that powers its merchant-first ecosystem, with the radical and responsible delivery of value as its mandate. It is a curious, driven and pragmatic environment that believes focused, empowered teams do great things, and that values outcomes over outputs. Small teams are trusted with big things, given the tools and support to succeed and then left to work their magic without needless process. It is a place to develop, grow and master your craft while solving real-world challenges for real merchants.
The Role
Our client is embracing a hybrid multi-cloud environment spanning AWS, Azure and GCP alongside on-premise infrastructure, and is looking for a Network Engineer to engage across the full lifecycle of their hosting environments. You will take a hands-on approach to design, implementation and ongoing stewardship, working alongside peers in TechOps, DevOps and InfoSec, with observability, high availability, information security and infrastructure-as-code treated as first-class concerns. You will also play a critical part in the operational support of existing legacy and future acquired assets. This suits a self-starter who owns deliverables end to end, prioritises effectively and thrives in a dynamic environment with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, test, develop and implement complex technical solutions that drive business value
- Support network infrastructure including switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls and cloud networking resources
- Own proactive grooming, lifecycle management, upgrades and capacity management
- Manage high-visibility, high-risk changes and lead incident, change and problem management
- Ensure the availability, performance and operational integrity of the network engineering domain
- Act as the TechOps liaison to Engineering, Architecture, Information Security and Production Support
- Coordinate appliance and software upgrades with vendors and internal teams
- Produce written procedures, engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Champion standard change management and configuration policies
What You’ll Need
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of enterprise-level network support
- 2+ years hands-on with Palo Alto solutions
- Hands-on expertise across Layer 2, 3, 4 and 7 switching, routing and application delivery
- Strong knowledge of core routing, switching, IP networking, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN, QoS, VLAN, VXLAN and BGP
- Solid experience with VPN and wireless access points
- Scripting in Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python or similar
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation
- Experience with network security such as certificate management in applications
- Experience with monitoring tools for failure detection and forensic investigation
Desirable / Nice to Have:
- Automation and infrastructure-as-code experience such as Ansible or Terraform
- Juniper Networks experience
- AWS or Azure experience
- Relevant certifications such as PCNSA, PCNSE, PCCSE, PCSAE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or JNCIE
Why Apply?
- Help establish and shape the client’s hosting environments from the ground up
- Genuine end-to-end ownership within small, empowered teams
- Modern hybrid multi-cloud stack across AWS, Azure and GCP
- Close collaboration with TechOps, DevOps and InfoSec practices
- A culture built on autonomy, growth and mastering your craft
