About the Job
As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide safety, stability, and emotional support to children and young people in residential care. Working within a minimum 2:1 staffing ratio, you will help create a nurturing environment where young people can grow, heal, and thrive.
Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
- Support daily routines, including school runs, appointments, activities, and bedtime
- Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development
- Keep accurate daily records (emotions, routines, activities, food diaries, etc.)
- Assist with budgeting and maintaining receipts
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly
- Assist with personal care and household tasks when required
- Manage challenging behaviour with patience, resilience, and confidence
Location & Shift Patterns
Location: PITY ME, COUNTY DURHAM
Shift patterns: 8am‑8pm (Day), 8pm‑8am (Night), 8am‑11pm + Sleep‑in.

- Good attention to detail when writing notes and reports
- Experience in social care or similar roles (advantageous but not essential)
- Valid DBS (support for application provided)
- Driving licence is a bonus due to varied locations
