Job Description:

We are seeking a versatile and organised individual for a hybrid role combining medical reception, GP administration, and phlebotomy services.

Job Responsibilities

Patient Reception & Customer Service

  • Welcoming patients and checking them in for appointments.
  • Answering phone calls, managing inquiries, and booking appointments.
  • Managing the patient waiting area and maintaining a professional environment.

GP Administration

  • Processing patient registrations, referrals, and medical records.
  • Handling incoming clinical post, emails, and electronic tasks.
  • Utilising medical software (e.g., EMIS Web, SystmOne) to update patient files.
  • Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies, and external healthcare providers.
  • Performing venepuncture for adult patients.
  • Correctly labelling, logging, and prepping blood samples for laboratory transport.
  • Maintaining clinical hygiene, infection control, and strict safety standards.
  • Managing clinic stock levels for phlebotomy consumables and other practice consumables.
  • Monitoring and recording water and clinical fridge temperatures.

Phlebotomy Duties

  • Performing venepuncture (blood draws) for adult and/or paediatric patients.
  • Correctly labelling, logging, and prepping blood samples for laboratory transport.
  • Maintaining clinical hygiene, infection control, and strict safety standards.
  • Managing clinic stock levels for phlebotomy consumables.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a nursing team.
  • Experience of a clinical environment.
  • Experience of working in a GP practice.

Qualifications

  • Educated to GCSE level minimum.
  • Certified and competent in Phlebotomy (Venepuncture).
  • Exceptional communication skills and an empathetic patient manner.
  • High level of administrative accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Strong IT literacy.
  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
  • Previous experience working within a GP practice or NHS environment.
  • Proficiency with GP clinical systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and confidentiality protocols (GDPR).
