Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer

About the Role

We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer to join our team based in Cardiff. The role is part of Hoare Lea’s largest independent consulting engineering firm, working on large national and international schemes while maintaining an agile culture that supports talent growth and career progression.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day technical delivery of electrical design services for multi‑disciplinary projects across a range of building sectors.
• Develop initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring solutions meet the brief and regulatory standards.
• Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, presenting and translating project briefs and design proposals.
• Assist the team leader in monitoring fee expenditure, resource utilisation and overall work delivery.
• Mentor and support junior professionals, apprentices and graduates to enhance their technical and professional development.

About you

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or a closely related role with a track record of delivering complex projects.
• Experience with modern technical delivery processes and relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
• Demonstrable experience working with clients, contractors and architects in a design‑oriented consulting capacity.
• Strong self‑awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity.
• Experience supporting others to develop knowledge, skills and confidence.
