Year 1 Teaching Assistant – September 2026 – Huyton

Milk Education is partnering with a primary school in Huyton (L36) to recruit a dedicated Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support two Year 1 pupils with SEND on a 1-2-2 basis.

This role is temporary, working on a long‑term supply basis and is to start in September 2026 until December 2026. The position is full‑time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 am‑15:30 pm.

The school is seeking a patient, nurturing individual who can provide consistent support, keep the children focused, and help meet their individual learning needs. Responsibilities include preparing resources, supporting daily tasks, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment. Experience with SEND and a calm, supportive approach are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one‑to‑two support for two Year 1 pupils
  • Keep the child engaged and on task throughout the school day
  • Prepare daily resources and support learning activities
  • Foster a positive, nurturing learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism (desirable)
  • Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to supporting the child’s academic and emotional development
