Apply for the Data Manager
Location: Aylesbury
Job Description:

We’re partnering with an established organisation at the beginning of an exciting data transformation journey. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Senior Data Engineer or Lead Data Engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership position, helping shape the future of data across the business.

Salary is up to £70,000 + Benefits

3 days onsite in Aylesbury

You’ll join a business where data currently sits across multiple systems with limited governance and consistency. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing that data together, improving its quality and designing the foundations for a scalable, modern data capability.

This isn’t a role where you’ll inherit an established team or mature environment. Instead, we’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working creatively with the resources available and building something from the ground up.

The Role

As the organisation’s senior data specialist, you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands on delivery. You’ll contribute to the future data strategy and architecture while remaining close to the technical implementation, working alongside internal technology teams and external partners to deliver practical solutions.

As the data capability evolves, you’ll have the opportunity to build and lead a small internal team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help shape and contribute to the organisation’s data strategy and long term roadmap.
  • Design scalable data solutions that improve how information is captured, integrated and accessed across the business.
  • Bring together data from multiple siloed systems to create a trusted and consistent source of information.
  • Design and implement data models, data pipelines and integration solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to understand reporting and data requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
  • Establish pragmatic data governance, ownership and data quality standards.
  • Support the design of the future data architecture alongside internal stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Work with Microsoft technologies including Azure, Microsoft Fabric and the Power Platform.
  • Ensure data is secure, accurate and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement across data processes, reporting and analytics.
  • Play a key role in building a future data function, with the opportunity to recruit and mentor a small team as the capability grows.

About You

We’re looking for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and is excited by the opportunity to create something new rather than maintain an existing function.

You will likely have experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Lead Data Engineer or similar and be looking for your first opportunity to step into a leadership role.

You’ll ideally bring

  • Strong experience designing and delivering modern data engineering solutions.
  • Experience contributing to data strategy, architecture or technology roadmaps, even if you haven’t owned them outright.
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling, data integration, ETL and cloud based data platforms.
  • Experience working with Azure, Microsoft Fabric, SQL and the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • The ability to solve complex problems pragmatically, making the most of the resources available.
  • Experience working with data spread across multiple systems and improving data quality and consistency.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non technical audiences.
  • The ambition to build, develop and eventually lead a growing data capability.

Why Apply?

  • An opportunity to step into your first leadership role.
  • Build a data capability from the ground up.
  • Influence the future direction of data across the organisation.
  • Work closely with senior decision makers on high profile transformation initiatives.
  • Genuine long term career progression as the data function expands.
