Job Overview

Consumer Products – Licensing Lead, Softlines – Slough, UK. Reports to UK Consumer Products Lead.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day‑to‑day licensing relationships in the UK for softlines, home & beauty and other licensees.
  • Deliver the UK softlines country strategy, support the Consumer Products Lead and partner with Retail Development on retail strategy.
  • Develop and present detailed joint business plans per partner, including forecast, budget, stretch targets, retail and marketing calendars, and product line plans.
  • Pitch products and make market presentations across Mattel’s IP portfolio.
  • Conduct bi‑weekly 1‑on‑1 meetings, arrange quarterly business reviews, bi‑annual top‑to‑top reviews and track financial goals through forecasting and ambitious sales targets.
  • Ensure detailed joint marketing plans per partner and manage licensee investment aligned with Mattel Consumer Products goals.
  • Be the internal point person for each licensee to ensure local markets drive strategy and goals.
  • Research, identify and pitch new category opportunities and prospective clients.
  • Secure new licensing deals, negotiate renewals, and attend trade fairs or category specific shows.
  • Support UK Consumer Products Lead on key market strategy and perform market analysis using SWOT, gaps, opportunities, and category priorities.
  • Keep current with changing trends & competition and work closely with Product Development, Creative, Quality & Assurance, Retail Development, Digital, PR, Regional Franchise and Local Brand teams to develop joint business plans.
  • Implement marketing and promotional strategies in liaison with stakeholders and gather best practice from across the EMEA region.
  • Help find innovative ways to grow the business and prepare brand pitch and marketing presentations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in licensing of consumer products, marketing or sales.
  • Understanding of the licensing environment and exposure to licensing.
  • Softlines knowledge and experience working with toy or product‑based brands.
  • Experience building joint business plans and managing financial plans and forecasts.
  • Degree in Business, Marketing or a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Proven sales negotiation experience and commercial thinking mindset.
  • Solutions oriented, able to think outside the box and deliver additional revenue and opportunities.
  • Ability to influence others; persuasive and able to present messaging impactfully.
  • Commercial acumen and competence to build and present strategy.
  • Strong relationship building and navigation of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player, ambitious thinking, strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Growth mindset, continuous learning, embracing challenges and improving oneself.
