A large public sector organisation is seeking to strengthen its cyber security capability and has partnered with Reed Talent Solutions to recruit an Information Security Officer on a permanent basis.
Based in central London, you will have the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis with just days attendance required on site, occasionally more.
About the Role
This is a varied and impactful role where you will support the delivery and continuous improvement of their information security and cyber resilience capability.
You will operate as a key member of the security function, working across multiple teams to help protect critical systems and data, and ensure compliance with recognised cyber security standards.
Working closely with the Information Security Manager, ICT teams, and wider stakeholders, you will contribute to strengthening security controls, managing risk, and embedding a positive security culture across a complex and operationally critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of information security policies, standards, and procedures aligned to recognised frameworks (e.g. ISO/IEC 27000 series, Cyber Essentials, CAF)
- Conduct security assessments of suppliers and supply chains, and monitor supplier security performance
- Support the delivery of compliance programmes to enhance cyber resilience and reduce risk exposure
- Assist with information security risk assessments and tracking risk treatment plans
- Contribute to cyber incident response planning, investigations, and post-incident reviews
- Support preparations for penetration testing and ensure remediation of identified vulnerabilities
- Maintain and update the organisation’s information asset register
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely follow-up of actions
- Contribute to cyber security awareness initiatives to promote a strong security culture
- Collaborate with ICT teams and stakeholders across a range of security and business projects
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a capable and proactive information security or ICT professional, with experience working in a large and complex organisation and a strong understanding of cyber security principles and practices.
- Experience working with recognised information security frameworks (e.g. NCSC guidance, ISO/IEC 27000 series, Cyber Essentials; CAF desirable)
- Experience conducting information security risk assessments using recognised methodologies (e.g. ISO/IEC 27005)
- Experience supporting cyber incident response and preparedness activities
- Experience assessing and managing supply chain security risks
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and deliver to deadlines
- A recognised information security qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
