Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer – South Coast, UK

Shift Pattern

The role rotates 12‑hour day and night shifts. In the first week of a cycle you work Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (day) or 6:00 pm to 6:00 am (night). In the second week you work Wednesday and Thursday only, with the remaining five days off. The pattern alternates between days and nights, providing regular blocks of time off throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across site equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Minimise downtime through effective fault finding and problem solving.
  • Maintain engineering systems and CMMS records.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety and environmental standards.
  • Support production teams to maximise operational performance.
  • Participate in shift handovers and engineering meetings.
  • Maintain GMP and quality standards across the site.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers and internal departments when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding skills.
  • Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing (or wider manufacturing).
  • Proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues.
  • Experience using CMMS systems (desirable).
  • Recognised Level 3 engineering qualification (GNVQ or equivalent), electrical qualification or relevant engineering degree.
  • Practical approach to balancing reactive and planned maintenance.
