Quality Engineer

Westinghouse Springfields Business is looking to fill a vacancy working as a Quality Assurance Engineer within one of the world’s most modern Fuel Fabrication Facilities. The role involves providing Quality Assurance activities for existing customer contracts and an expanding portfolio of new orders, ensuring safer standards, higher quality, and continuous improvement.

Location: Salwick Preston, GB

Responsibilities

• Certification of product to confirm it meets the requirements of a technical specification determined by our customer or internal technical team
• Provide advice and decisions on potential non‑conforming product, act as Quality Reviewer for related CAPs, manage documentation (i.e., inspection schedules), and oversight of plant qualifications
• Manage in‑process monitoring and statistical process control to ensure manufacturing parameters are maintained within a predetermined window
• Support the auditing of external parties and accompany customer surveillance engineers, attending customer Quality Meetings
• Support the CAP to carry out corrective actions and undertake first‑line quality investigations
• Assist the Quality Manager with defining, measuring, and improving Key Performance Indicators based around the five pillars of Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Delivery
• Support maintenance of certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

Skills

• Knowledge and experience in quality/operations management (other candidates considered)
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), trending and statistical evaluation
• Continuous Improvement experience such as Green Belt, Black Belt, Six Sigma etc.
• Internal/External Auditor trained/qualified

Qualifications

• Typically an Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) or experience as a Manufacturing Quality Engineer
• Manufacturing quality assurance audit training and experience
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
• Experience in a customer‑facing role (registration as a CQI practitioner desirable but not essential)
