Job Description

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director, BUHR UK/Ireland & Nordics, located in Leeds, United Kingdom or Denmark. The role is available across multiple countries and may be posted under different requisition numbers to comply with local requirements. The Director, BUHR UK, Ireland and Nordics is a senior leader with accountability for driving the talent agenda, execution and performance excellence, and strategic alignment across the cluster markets for DePuy Synthes.

The Director will translate regional and global HR strategy into local execution, ensuring strong customer engagement, operational discipline, and sustainable growth. This role leads cross‑functional teams, influences key stakeholders, and directly impacts business outcomes and patient care in a highly regulated MedTech environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership for the cluster markets operations, ensuring alignment with DePuy Synthes’ regional and global strategies.
  • Partner with Business Leaders and Finance to deliver integrated business plans.
  • Foster strong relationships with key customers, healthcare stakeholders, and internal partners.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and teams, building leadership capability and a high‑performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, ethical, and governance standards applicable to the cluster markets.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor law and internal policies; manage relationships with employee representatives and external labor bodies as required.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify risks and opportunities, and drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Represent the cluster in regional forums, contributing insights to broader EMEA decision‑making.

Where Required To Be Managed Locally

  • Document handling: Print, stamp/seal, mail/ship, distribute, and route documents for wet signatures.
  • Records management: Store/archive/retrieve HR documents; fulfill requests; coordinate offsite storage; scan and name for Veeva.
  • Compliance/admin: Upload/submit filings; print and hand-deliver to agencies; support audits and onsite audit coordination.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Experience and Skills

  • Typically 10-12 years of progressive leadership experience in HR, preferably within MedTech, Pharma, or Healthcare.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi‑functional teams and managing complex business priorities.
  • People management experience with multi‑country teams.
  • Strong understanding of the local healthcare environment, including customer and market dynamics.
  • Proven ability to drive strategy execution and deliver results in a matrixed organisation.

Preferred

  • Multi-HR experience in different functions.
  • Background working across EMEA or international organisations.
  • Experience leading transformation, change, or growth initiatives.
  • Strong customer‑centric mindset with senior‑level engagement experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.

Other

  • Language: Fluent English required.
  • Travel: Up to ~25%, primarily within UK and EMEA.
  • Certifications: Leadership certifications preferred but not required.
