Structural engineering for critical, complex projects
We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team and help deliver innovative, high‑impact projects across multiple sectors. You will play a key role in power and energy schemes, from substations and grid infrastructure to renewable energy facilities, while also contributing to projects in industrial, defence and transportation environments.

What you’ll be doing
- Designing and specifying structural elements across complex, multidisciplinary projects, with a strong focus on power and energy infrastructure
- Producing high‑quality drawings, specifications and technical reports in line with industry standards
- Collaborating with engineers across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable solutions
- Reviewing calculations, drawings and supplier submissions to ensure technical excellence and compliance
- Supporting and mentoring early‑career engineers while contributing to continuous technical improvement
What we’re looking for
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent
- Proven structural design experience in at least one sector BakerHicks operates in, with power sector experience highly desirable
- Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status with ICE or IStructE
- Experience using structural analysis software such as MasterSeries, STAAD or Tedds
- Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM regulations
- A collaborative communicator who thrives in multidisciplinary environments
- Eligibility for security clearance, essential for certain projects
- UK project experience gained through employment, internships or graduate placements
- Work on a diverse portfolio of major infrastructure programmes, including nation‑critical power projects
