We are looking for an enthusiastic General Anaesthetist to join a well‑established Anaesthetic Department as a Consultant. The Department provides anaesthetic cover for three sites, maintains Critical Care facilities and Chronic Pain Clinics. The successful applicant will join the on‑call rota at Doncaster Royal Infirmary with a current frequency of 1:14 (approximately 1:12–1:15) and will cover general emergency theatre, obstetric theatres and A&E.
nMain duties of the jobn
The appointee will provide excellent Anaesthetic services across Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Mexborough, taking an equal share of emergency anaesthetic cover and participating in a reciprocal on‑call rota. The role also includes covering absences of consultant colleagues during short periods.
nPerson SpecificationnQualificationsn
- n
- MBBS/MBChB or equivalent acceptable to the GMC
- Licence to Practise
- Specialist register for Anaesthetics or within 6 months of admission to the register for trainees, or eligibility to be on the GMC specialist register for other categories of Doctor

nExperience and Achievementsn
- n
- High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Anaesthesia
- Expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the specialty
- Understanding of current issues within Anaesthesia and NHS
- Ability to work with and lead others across professions
- Wide based experience in Anaesthesia
- Attendance at a recognised management course

- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching postgraduate doctors and non‑medical staff
- Training in clinical and educational supervision
- Academic achievements and evidence of research publications
- Attendance at a teaching course
- Formal qualification in teaching/education

- Knowledge of audit principles and participation in audit projects with implementation of outcomes

Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 a year (pro‑rata per annum)
