SEN Primary Support Assistant

Bury | September 2026 Start | Full‑time

The Role

As a SEN Primary Support Assistant you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and build positive relationships. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support that enables every child to thrive both academically and socially.

You may be supporting pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Speech and Language Needs
  • Communication Difficulties
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Learning Difficulties

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Supporting pupils with communication and social development
  • Helping children engage in lessons and learning activities
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff and wider professionals
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Experience That Would Be Beneficial

  • SEN school experience
  • Teaching Assistant experience
  • Care, support work or youth work experience
  • Nursery or early years experience
  • Personal experience supporting individuals with additional needs
