About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable and customer-focused Facilities Operative to join our team at Johnson Matthey in Billingham.
In this varied, hands‑on role, you’ll help deliver high-quality facilities services across the site, ensuring both internal and external areas are maintained to the highest standards. You’ll work as part of a supportive team, providing excellent service while contributing to a safe, clean and efficient working environment.
No two days are the same, so we’re looking for someone who enjoys a varied workload, takes pride in their work and is always willing to help.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain clean, safe and tidy internal and external site areas, including waste management and litter collection.
- Collect, segregate and manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste in line with site procedures.
- Respond to customer requests and complete helpdesk tasks within agreed timescales.
- Carry out site audits and support compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Deliver parcels, assist with furniture moves and support office relocations.
- Provide cover for stores and warehouse operations, including unloading deliveries.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver excellent customer service across the site.
- Follow all company policies, wear the required PPE and maintain high standards of professionalism and safety.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is reliable, proactive and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You should enjoy working as part of a team, communicate confidently with colleagues and customers, and be able to prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
You’ll also have:
- Experience in facilities, cleaning, logistics, warehouse or a similar operational role (preferred).
- A flexible, hands‑on approach with a willingness to support different areas of the business.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of SAP and a forklift truck licence would be advantageous but are not essential.
- A safe and professional approach to work, following Health & Safety procedures
