About The Deployments Team

The Deployments team is responsible for ensuring Augur delivers exceptional value to our customers. We push the frontier of what is possible for our customers by building novel capabilities, where the end‑state isn’t always obvious. We’re discovering, building and implementing new solutions using our technology every day.

The Deployments team ensures excellent technical delivery, drives product improvement, and aligns internal teams to maximise our real‑world impact. We have diverse backgrounds and skillsets, and we’re comfortable operating in uncertainty. We convert ambiguity and complex problems into clear solutions. We’re unwavering in our commitment to ensuring Augur provides excellent service to every customer.

The Role

We’re looking for experienced software engineers who have a track record of delivering real‑world value. As a Frontier Engineer, you excel at autonomously navigating ambiguous environments and converting complex customer problems into high‑impact technical solutions. You are a skilled communicator, conveying complex technical concepts with ease for any audience. You’re also adept at stakeholder engagement, especially fostering relationships with customers and internal teams.

Frontier Engineers play a critical role in the product feedback loop by surfacing customer insights to product teams, and building tailored customer solutions. This includes a broad range of tasks: writing data pipelines, creating custom backend services, building new UI components and installing and configuring hardware. We primarily build in Python, Rust and Typescript on Linux, but this is flexible, as we aim to choose the right tool for the job.

While this is a hybrid role, we believe working onsite with customers is essential to understand their needs and ensure deployment success, so expect to spend up to 50% of your week onsite.

Core Attributes

  • Strong coding and debugging skills.
  • Creative and resourceful problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to unfamiliar and non‑technical audiences.
  • Previous experience working directly with customers.
  • Proven ability to deliver outcomes in ambiguous technical environments.

Desirable

  • Project Management and/or Team Leadership skills.
  • Machine Learning and/or Data Science skills.
  • Experience building and deploying web frontends, ideally in Typescript + React.
  • Experience building and deploying backend services.
  • Familiarity with different software deployment platforms and technologies (such as cloud, bare metal, embedded, containerisation, virtualisation, networking, GPU).

Accessibility and Inclusivity

At Augur, our culture is built on radical candor and mutual trust. To solve the complex, physical‑world problems our customers face, we need a team that thinks differently.

Whether you’re self‑taught, have a non‑traditional background, or are returning to the workforce, if you have the grit and the experience we’re looking for at Augur, we’d love to hear from you.

We are committed to fostering a diverse workplace and ensuring an accessible hiring experience – please let us know if you require any accommodations during the interview process to help you do your best work.
