About this Role

King’s Academy Ringmer is seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher of History to join our thriving secondary school on a fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave starting on 2 November 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of History, deliver high‑quality teaching and learning, and support students to achieve their full potential within a supportive and ambitious school community.

The appointment is temporary to cover a period of maternity leave. It is anticipated that the appointment will run until Friday 15 October 2027.

Working closely with colleagues within the History Department and across the wider school, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge and inspire learners of all abilities. You will create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported and motivated to succeed, while maintaining high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation.

You will be committed to developing students’ historical knowledge, critical thinking and analytical skills, enabling them to make strong progress and achieve positive outcomes. Through effective assessment and feedback, you will monitor progress and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of individual learners.

About you

You are a passionate and reflective teacher of History with strong subject knowledge and a commitment to delivering high‑quality teaching and learning. Whether you are an experienced teacher or at an earlier stage in your career, you are able to engage and inspire students and help them develop a curiosity for the past and success in the subject.

You have experience of planning and delivering lessons that challenge and support learners of all abilities and are confident in using assessment to inform your teaching and improve outcomes. You understand the importance of creating an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued, supported and able to thrive.

You are a positive team player who builds strong relationships with students, colleagues and families and is willing to contribute to the wider life of the school. You are resilient, adaptable and committed to your own professional development.

Hours of work

32.5 hours per week, Full‑time, Fixed‑term for maternity cover.
