Overview

As a Teaching Assistant Level 2(a) you will work under the clear guidance of class teachers to support individual pupils and small groups with planned learning activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils to access learning and stay on task, helping to boost attainment and confidence.
  • Assisting with monitoring and recording pupil progress and supporting target‑setting and reviews.
  • Helping produce learning resources, providing routine classroom administrative support and assisting with supervision and behaviour management.
  • Supporting inclusion, working with pupils with SEND where appropriate training has been provided.
  • Contributing positively to the classroom atmosphere and liaising with staff, parents and outside agencies as needed.

  • Cares deeply about children’s learning and wellbeing and wants to be part of a close‑knit school community.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Has good communication, organisational and basic ICT skills and can carry out routine classroom administration.
  • Is able to support pupils’ academic and social development, and adapt to different needs with patience and professionalism.
  • Has NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience (desirable) or demonstrable experience working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and to our Catholic ethos of inclusion, respect and forgiveness.
